Founders

Our founders are a diverse cross section of our equine community. Both small and large equine operators have come together to create MUCH. From this small group we will endeavor to register all equine concerns and weave a fabric that is strong and resilient.

Our Story

Marion County Florida is comprised of a patchwork of horse farms and equine enthusiasts. Here you will find virtually all breeds and all disciplines. We breed, train and compete nationally and internationally and our love of horses has led us to become the Horse Capital of the World.

Welcome to Marion United Council for Horses

Marion County, Florida is known as the Horse Capital of the World because it has more horses than any other county in the United States. The county's equine industry supports many jobs and has a significant economic impact. Horses in Marion County

This idyllic and unassuming area has produced a stunning total of 50 national champions, 6 Kentucky Derby winners, 26 Breeders’ Cup champions and 6 Horses of the Year.   This Central Florida county is internationally renowned as the “Horse Capital of the World®,” and is home to the largest number of horses and ponies – more than any other county in the United States. This includes nearly 35,000 thoroughbred horses, but the variety and diversity of our horses is unmatched. Beyond its legacy as a top training ground and equine-friendly vacation destination, Ocala/Marion County hosts several national and international horse competitions and countless shows throughout the year, from the Horse Shows in the Sun (HITS) Ocala Winter Circuit to Live Oak International.
